課程簡述

Course description

description within 350 words

This course introduces the idea of heteroglossia in order to lead students to the multiciplicity of the world, which is usually beyond our daily simplified experience and imagination.  We define heteroglossia as a blending of world views through language, art, and life pattern. We distinguished monoglossia from heteroglossia by pointing to “Socratic dialogue from Platonic monologue. We ask students first to detach themselve from their familiarity and singulaity, and then to enter and participate the strange and plural world of experience. In this way, we encourage students to  respect strangeness and difference. In practice, we are going to let students to dialogically contemplate the interchange and hybridity of diefferent forms of culture, such music, visual arts, language, eating, literature, humor, disability, madness and so forth. We believe that students will be able to develop a vision regarding all acts and speech as dialogic, has an internal diversity.
